Sunset is a local photo manager. It runs on your computer and your normal photo browsing, import, and develop workflows do not upload your photos. We don't collect, upload, or transmit your photos or their metadata.
When you launch Sunset, the app contacts our servers to check for updates and to validate your license key. These requests only send the minimum information needed to perform the check. Your photos and their metadata are never transmitted during these checks.
If you use the built-in map or geotagging features, map tile and geocoding providers may receive requests to load map data or search for place names.
If you use Smart Denoise, the app may download an AI model file the first time the feature is used. Subsequent uses work offline.
The Sunset app itself does not collect any personal information. We do not use analytics, tracking pixels, or any form of telemetry. Your photos and metadata are stored locally on your device and are never sent to any server.
When you purchase a Sunset license, payment details are processed by Stripe. We store a record of your transaction (name, email, license key) on our servers. This information is used solely to process refunds, recover lost license keys, and send purchase confirmation emails via Resend. We do not sell this information.
We use a small number of service providers to operate Sunset. Each receives only the minimum data needed for their role:

This website does not use cookies, analytics, or any third-party tracking scripts. When you download Sunset from our website or through the in-app updater, we log the filename, date, and basic request metadata (such as platform) on our own servers. This information is used solely to understand download trends and improve our product.
When you submit feedback through our website, we store your email address, message, and category. This information is used solely to respond to your feedback and improve our product. We do not sell this information.
